Post Conference Social Activity

Wednesday, May 15, 5:30pm onward at X-Cues, 551 Sargent Avenue (www.xcuescafelounge.com). A closing “conference meets community” event for the University of Winnipeg Centre for Interdisciplinary Justice Studies (CIJS) annual conference.

 

The evening will feature tabling from community groups confronting injustices on this territory, and the John Howard Society of Manitoba Literacy Department will launch the newest issue of the Inside Scoop, the JHS publication dedicated to writing and art submitted by incarcerated or formerly incarcerated people from across the country. We will have art supplies on hand for making cards to send to Inside Scoop authors.

 

Also: A Joint Effort: An Art Installation on Solidarity and Love Behind and Beyond Bars. Exploring the history of the penal press and the Journal of Prisoners on Prisons through prisoner writings and art.
